Darwin Perennials has been hard at work developing a line of double flowering Echinacea. We vigorously trialed their varieties in both containers and in the ground, and were very impressed with the performance and flower color of DOUBLE SCOOP™ Mandarin. Fluorescent orange pom-pom flowers really stop you in your tracks with intense color. Unlike taller double varieties that tend to lodge, this Echinacea supports the weight of its large, 4" wide flowers with better, shorter stems. With age, flowers take on dark rosy pink tones, which only add to its beauty.
Praised for their cheerful brightly colored flowers, coneflowers are a mainstay in today's garden. Be sure to leave some spent blooms on the plants in the fall because their seeds provide winter food for finches and other birds. The dried seed heads also provide architectural interest in the winter.
