Time to Start Fall Planting!
Summer may be over, but things are really heating up for fall planting.

Aster 'Purple Dome' and Pennisetum 'Little Bunny' combine perfectly in fall.As many of you know, fall is an excellent time for planting perennials. Studies have shown that plants started in fall have an advantage over those planted in spring. They are stronger, more well-established, and can even be more disease resistant. The following list includes some of the perennials which we feel are excellent for planting in late summer and fall. Please refer to the Plant Database for more information about the plants listed below.
- Sedum
- Rudbeckia
- Aster
- Hemerocallis
- Paeonia (Garden varieties)
- Papaver
- Iris (Tall Bearded, Siberian) — best planted in spring or late summer
- Aquilegia
- Dianthus
- Dicentra
- Hosta — best planted in spring or late summer
- Helleborus — best kept under minimum heat
