Sleepy Plants

Perennials that are late to Emerge

05/10/2017

Early spring can be a pretty exciting time for all gardeners—winter is finally over, and we wait impatiently for the garden that we remember to come alive again. Some plants are overachievers—throwing up new green growth almost before all the snow has disappeared. Others, like Hardy Hibiscus, are notoriously late to emerge. Even experienced gardeners may worry that these plants have not survived the winter. Don’t dig them up just yet! In all likelihood, they will still come up in their own time to put on a magnificent show later in the season.
