Aster 'BLUE AUTUMN' ('Oudshoorn 1' PP17400)

Common Name: Aster

Remarkably vivid violet blue, daisy-like flowers set this aster apart from all others.  It’s such an unusual color to see in the fall, so it really stood out in our trial gardens when it bloomed from late summer into mid-fall.

This is a disease resistant, freely flowering selection with strong, upright flower stems.  It withstands cool, windy, rainy weather that often occurs in fall and delivers an excellent garden performance overall.

Blue Autumn is the result of a planned breeding program by Herbert Oudshoorn of The Netherlands.  His objective was to create new cultivars of asters with durable foliage and attractive flower colors.  He has certainly met his objective with this fantastic cultivar.

Asters are native to North America and are generally very easy to grow.  They are terrific accents for fall blooming grasses and the changing colors of the trees. Try cutting a few of the tall, flowering stems for a fresh bouquet--bring the outdoors in.
